By participating in the Media Party Hackathon, you agree to comply with the following terms and conditions..
The Hackathon is open to individuals or teams aged 18 years or older registered at Media Party New York.

a. Participants must develop projects that propose innovation in media. This year, projects are encouraged to be oriented toward the use of Artificial Intelligence.
b. Projects should be based on open-source principles, utilizing openly available software, libraries, or tools when possible, but not exclusively.
c. Participants are encouraged to contribute their projects under a Creative Commons license, but not exclusively, granting the broader community the right to use, modify, and distribute the code while providing appropriate attribution.

a. Participants must adhere to a code of conduct promoting inclusivity, respect, and professionalism throughout the Hackathon.
b. Harassment, discrimination, or any form of inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated.
c. Participants are expected to collaborate in a constructive manner and foster a welcoming environment for all participants.

a. Participants retain the intellectual property rights to their own projects pitched during the hackathon sessions.
b. By participating in the Hackathon, participants grant other participants and organizers a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to review, evaluate, and provide feedback on their projects.
c. Participants are encouraged to share their projects under a Creative Commons and open source licenses, ensuring that others can freely use, build upon, and share the code while giving appropriate credit.

a. Projects will be evaluated based on predefined criteria, including:
Alignment with the theme of AI, journalism, and democracy
Addressing a significant problem or challenge in the field
Consideration of ethical issues
Feasibility to implement in real-world scenarios or to scale
Team diversity and transdisciplinary approaches
b. The judging panel’s decision is final and binding.
c. Prizes, if any, will be awarded based on the discretion of the organizing team and sponsors. Despite the fact that the partners have shown to follow the results of this hackathon with special interest, grant support is not guaranteed this time.

Participants are responsible for ensuring they have the necessary rights and permissions to use any data or content incorporated into their projects.

a. The organizing team and sponsors shall not be held liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from participation in the Hackathon.
b. The organizing team reserves the right to modify, suspend, or cancel the Hackathon at their discretion, without prior notice.

The organizing team reserves the right to modify these terms and conditions at any time. Participants will be notified of any significant changes.
