A one-day intensive sprint at BIT Habitat. From theory to execution: agentic journalism, automated workflows, and verification.
As the hackathon takes place at a different venue (BIT Habitat) and has a hands-on work format, it requires registration separate from the main conference pass.
> Secure spot_As generative AI and automated systems fundamentally reshape how news and information travel online, media creators face a rapidly evolving landscape.
The hackathon is our interdisciplinary laboratory. It is not just for programmers. It brings together journalists (editorial rigor), designers (human-centered UX), developers (architecture), and strategists (sustainability) to create functional open-source prototypes.
"The hackathon is where ideas become real, scalable technology. By partnering with Cloudflare, we are putting cutting-edge cloud infrastructure and AI developer tools directly into the hands of creators."
// Special challenge track sponsored by Cloudflare.
> Designing AI-powered agents and workflows that streamline media production and assist newsrooms in the new era._
> Creating tools that support a sustainable internet and help organizations thrive on AI-powered platforms._
> Developing technical solutions for synthetic content detection, digital security, and information authenticity._
Solutions born at Media Party hackathons regularly scale into real-world tools. For example, Shepherd —a browser extension that detects bot-like behavior— was built during the Media Party hackathon in New York, winning Columbia University's Greater Good Challenge and receiving $50,000 USD in funding.
"The agentic internet is here. Cloudflare is proud to partner with Media Party to provide the infrastructure that journalists and creators need."
