Content Independence in the AI-Search Era

Hacking next-gen tools for bot governance, agentic journalism, and zero-click search monetization.

The hackathon is our interdisciplinary laboratory. It is not just for programmers. It brings together journalists (editorial rigor), designers (human-centered UX), developers (architecture), and strategists (sustainability) to create functional open-source prototypes.

From Ideas to Real-World Tools

Solutions born at Media Party hackathons regularly scale into real-world tools. For example, Shepherd —a browser extension that detects bot-like behavior— was built during the Media Party hackathon in New York, winning Columbia University's Greater Good Challenge and receiving $50,000 USD in funding.
