Ever since the release of ChatGPT-3, tools powered by artificial intelligence (AI) have dazzled the public with their possibilities for creating content. These initiatives have also sparked a specific controversy: who has access to the information that each AI model manages? This is where the Hugging Face community comes in.
Hugging Face focuses on developing open-source AI tools, meaning that everyone can access their source code to study it. Since its foundation in 2016, the company built a dedicated platform where any user can inspect their pre-trained AI models to understand better the possibilities of generative tools powered by machine learning.
Their forums let people collaborate on different groundbreaking projects, with the idea that giving free access to data enhances collective knowledge that can be determinant in the development of transparent AI initiatives.
As companies like OpenAI have established that they will limit the distribution of their tools for commercial use, Hugging Face offers the possibility to make its information accessible to individuals and businesses alike.
Hugging Face also features different types of tutorials, how-to guides, and references to help beginners understand the fundamentals of working with machine learning frameworks and the process of Natural Language Processing (NLP) tools.
If you want to know more about Hugging Face and how its community can help democratize AI models, come to Media Party Chicago (8–10 June 2023). More info is available at MediaParty.org.
