Almost 14 years ago, Hacks/Hackers started to seek solutions to the revolution of storytelling made possible by Web 2.0. This year again, the organization will be one of the main protagonists of Media Party Chicago, where it will be an essential part of the new digital creators ecosystem.

Founded by Aron Pilhofer (then the editor of Interactive News at The New York Times) and Burt Herman (former foreign correspondent), its core mission is to create a network between journalists and technologists, keeping in mind that digital content is the standard for news outlets around the world.

Hacks/Hackers have been a crucial part of Media Party when thinking about the transformation of the public throughout almost fifteen years. From data journalism to Artificial Intelligence, the idea of creating a breeding ground for projects with high impact on the civic digital identity is still one of the main motivations that drives the organization forward.

We aim to help members find inspiration and think in new directions, bringing together potential collaborators for projects and new ventrues”, Hack/Hackers states on their web page.

Since 2009, the organization has grown to include chapters in more than 100 cities around the world and has hosted events and workshops to provide new tools to meet everyday challenges of digital storytelling and social media.

Media Party has hosted several keynotes involving Hack/Hackers historic members, including Aron Pilhofer, Jenny 8 Lee, Anika Gupta, Burt Herman and Mariano Blejman.
