Traditional newsrooms are currently navigating a double-pressured shift. On one side, AI-driven answer engines are rapidly changing search behavior and cutting direct traffic to news sites. On the other, independent creators and influencers are capturing massive audiences with personality-driven, video-first content rooted in authenticity and community.
To explore how news organizations can navigate these rapid shifts, Media Party Barcelona—taking place on September 7–8 at CaixaForum—is proud to feature Nic Newman as a confirmed keynote speaker.

Keynote & Workshop at Media Party

- Keynote: How Journalism Needs to Change in the Era of AI and Content Creators?
Drawing on freshly rebuilt insights from the 2026 Digital News Report data, this presentation explores how news organizations can adapt to squeezed audience traffic and find sustainable success amid the dual pressures of AI answer engines and independent creators.
- Workshop: “What can we learn from Content Creators and Influencers about engagement, formats, business models and trust?”
In this hands-on workshop, participants will unpack the rise of personality-led news to identify which creator strategies around trust, community, and monetization traditional newsrooms should adopt—and which ones they should avoid.
