Panel: Why Are There So Many Streams? The phenomenon that transformed digital media

Media Party

Argentine streaming is experiencing a historic moment. What began as an emerging trend has become the epicenter of media innovation, attracting both massive audiences and brands seeking authentic connections with their consumers.

From promise to reality

The talk “The Business of Streaming” at Media Party 2024 marked a turning point. On that occasion, it became clear that the industry had reached sufficient maturity to generate sustainable business models and attract serious investment. Since then, we have witnessed an explosion: new channels emerge weekly, creators consolidate their audiences, and streaming has positioned itself as the natural gateway for any innovative media project.

But this proliferation raises fundamental questions: What factors explain this exponential growth? How have consumption habits evolved? What strategies have creators adopted to stand out in an increasingly saturated ecosystem?

A panel to understand the present

On Friday, October 3rd from 2 to 3 PM at Ciudad Cultural Konex, Media Party 2025 will dedicate a special space to analyze this phenomenon in depth. The panel will present the collaborative work between En Directo Stream and the Universidad de Buenos Aires, responsible for the Streaming Metrics Index (SMI), a pioneering research that was developed at the end of 2024.

This study represents the first systematic attempt to measure and understand the Argentine streaming ecosystem, offering concrete data on audiences, engagement, and consumption trends that until now remained in creators’ intuition.

Voices from the front lines

The conversation will bring together some of the most relevant names in national streaming:

Leonardo García (En Directo Stream) will contribute the academic and methodological perspective behind the SMI, sharing how metrics can be interpreted to make strategic decisions.

Iván Listka (Blender), Emilio Laszlo (Gelatina), Franco Pricolo (Bondi), and Jerónimo Liñán (Azz) will share their experiences from the trenches: the challenges of producing daily content, strategies for audience retention, and lessons learned in a constantly evolving market.

The conversation will be moderated by Nico Russo, head of product for media and part of the Media Party organizing team, who will guide the discussion toward the most relevant aspects for entrepreneurs, journalists, and content creators.

Beyond the numbers

This panel proposes to generate an honest conversation about the real challenges of the ecosystem: economic sustainability, team professionalization, relationships with technology platforms, and the balance between creativity and commercial viability.

It will also explore how streaming has redefined fundamental concepts of journalism and entertainment: immediacy, audience interaction, community building, and the role of the presenter as a personal brand.

An essential appointment

In a context where streaming has become synonymous with media innovation, this panel offers the opportunity to understand the keys to a phenomenon that is redrawing the map of Argentine media.

For those seeking to understand where the industry is heading, launch their own projects, or simply better understand this boiling ecosystem, the appointment is on Friday, October 3rd at 2 PM at Ciudad Cultural Konex.

Media Party 2025 will take place from October 2nd to 4th at Ciudad Cultural Konex. More information and tickets available at https://mediaparty.org/
