Media Party Buenos Aires 2026 opens its doors: three days to ask who tells the story in the age of agents

Media Party

Since 9:15 a.m., Ciudad Cultural Konex has been welcoming journalists, developers, designers and media entrepreneurs. Today, Thursday, October 29, Media Party Buenos Aires 2026 kicks off with keynotes from The Guardian, the Pulitzer Center and MediaWise, the Media Fair and an afternoon of workshops.

The doors at Konex are open. With registration underway since 9:15 a.m., Media Party Buenos Aires 2026 begins its biggest edition of the year, built around one theme that runs through the whole program: storytelling in the age of agents. The underlying question is a concrete one. If an AI system can generate, organize and argue a narrative with no human involvement, where does that leave editorial judgment?

Entry is free with prior registration, and the event is part of the Buenos Aires TecWeek agenda. The full Media Party Buenos Aires 2026 schedule is on Sched, where attendees can build their own route through rooms and time slots and sync it to their phone calendar.

Media Party Buenos Aires 2026 opens with keynotes in the Gran Sala

The official opening is at 9:30 a.m. in the Gran Sala Santiago Aragón, with Fedra Abagianos. Next comes the keynote block, with speakers who have been closely tracking how AI is changing newsrooms:

At midday, the Media Fair

From 12:30 to 2 p.m., the Media Fair brings together projects and tools exploring new ways to produce and tell the news. It is one of the best moments to meet the teams behind each initiative and see their work in action.

In the afternoon, workshops and lightning talks

From 2 p.m., the program turns hands-on with two blocks of parallel workshops. Among today’s sessions, Revista Anfibia brings “Journalism to stop the scroll”, with Alejandra Torrijos, Camila Agustina Silva and Marcelo Moretti, and LAIA leads a workshop with Maik Slipczuk and Victoria Manoni.

The day closes back in the Gran Sala: keynotes from 5:30 p.m., a panel at 6 p.m. and, from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m., a round of lightning talks, short presentations on projects and ideas. Rooms and times for every session are on the Sched schedule.

What’s next: Friday and Saturday

Friday, October 30 starts with the sandboxes, group sessions on media investment, applied AI, the creator economy, and policy and regulation, open by invitation or application. Lightning talks and three workshop blocks follow, including “Build your professional portfolio with AI and take it home finished”, with Melisa Avolio and Fedra Abagianos.

Saturday, October 31 is a day for building. At the hackathon, interdisciplinary teams design AI prototypes that improve stories without giving up human editorial judgment, and the day ends with the final pitches. Only projects built from scratch that same day are judged. To take part, sign up for the hackathon.
