Andrew’s journey at The Texas Tribune began in 2015 when he joined the organization after completing his master’s degree in MIT’s Comparative Media Studies program. During his time at MIT, he had the opportunity to work with renowned research groups such as the Nieman Journalism LabCenter for Civic Media, and HyperStudio, honing his skills and gaining valuable insights into the intersection of journalism and technology.

Originally from Iowa, Andrew earned his bachelor’s degree in literature and music from Yale University, where he cultivated a passion for storytelling and media. His interdisciplinary background allows him to approach product development by combining elements of disciplines such as literature, music, and technology to create compelling digital experiences.

As the Chief Product Officer of The Texas Tribune, Andrew is responsible for ensuring that the organization’s systems for content management, distribution, and analysis are aligned with both the organizational priorities and user needs. His role is key when developing tools for storytelling, membership, revenue generation, and streamlining processes for nonprofit newsrooms and local/regional news initiatives.

Throughout his tenure at The Texas Tribune, Andrew has consistently demonstrated his ability to collaborate effectively with editorial and revenue teams.
