The emergence of AI agents is not just another technological update: it is a shift in who tells the story. When an algorithm can generate, curate, and argue a narrative without human intervention, storytelling competes against systems that also narrate. Against this backdrop, cognitive sovereignty—the ability to think, editorialize, and decide without delegating judgment to a machine—and sovereignty in the use of AI become conditions for journalism's survival.
This defense is also an opportunity. "Liquid journalism" finds in these agents a source of creative overflow. Media Party 2026 calls for a dual task: protecting human editorial judgment while daring to overflow into new forms of storytelling made possible by the era of agents.
