We want you to participate in the Media Party 2023 Hackathon, which is why this year we are holding a preliminary meetup during the conference.
From October 5 to 7, Latin America’s most important media innovation conference takes place at Ciudad Cultural Konex. The event culminates in putting into practice what was learned during a full-day session where multidisciplinary teams build prototypes for innovative projects in a single day. This year, the focus is centered on the application and use of artificial intelligence, with participants competing for $5,000 USD in prizes.
Do you have an idea? You can submit it to Hackdash so other participants can discover it and contribute to the project.
The Warm-Up
On Friday, October 6, mentoring sessions will take place for individuals and teams seeking expert advice to steer the projects they wish to develop during the Hackathon. These 15-minute mentoring sessions will be personalized; prior sign-up on the bulletin board is required to reserve an appointment, and the project must already be uploaded to Hackdash. Important: This is not a mandatory activity to participate in Saturday’s Hackathon!
How does the Hackathon work?
On Saturday, October 7, the Hackathon will begin with preliminary setup sessions and pitches of the projects uploaded to Hackdash, allowing everyone present to evaluate them, offer collaboration, and join work teams. At this stage, it is common for similar projects and teams to merge, for groups to recruit members with specific knowledge, profiles, or skills needed for development, or for some projects to be unable to form a team. Come prepared to pitch your idea and/or present the contribution you can offer to others’ ideas and projects.
Once teams are formed, work on the projects begins. Generally, throughout the day, teams develop an MVP or functional prototype of the project and project its vision and value proposition for the industry.
At 6:00 PM, a new round of pitches takes place to showcase the results achieved by each team. Based on this input, the jury will deliberate to decide who wins the prize according to the evaluation criteria. Multiple projects may be chosen, just one, or—though it has never happened so far—none.
Why participate in the Hackathon? Besides the $5,000 USD in prizes, it is a unique opportunity to put what you’ve learned into practice and generate synergy among colleagues.
