Lineup confirmed! The Media Party NYC 2026 speakers are here

Media Party

From May 8 to 10, the Brown Institute for Media Innovation at Columbia University will be transformed into a global laboratory where 300 scientists, journalists, developers, and entrepreneurs gather to redefine the future of the industry.

Media Party New York 2026 returns for its second edition at a turning point: the consolidation of the “post-search” era. In this new paradigm, news discovery has migrated from traditional broadcasts and search engines toward individual creators, vertical video, and generative AI interfaces. While young audiences and traditional consumers alike reconfigure their consumption habits, global newsrooms are integrating synthetic tools in disparate ways, producing a spectrum of results that oscillates between editorial innovation and cautionary failures.

Our mission is to transform this isolated experimentation into a framework of radical collaboration. By connecting perspectives traveling from Buenos Aires to Nairobi or New York, we aim to resolve the fragmentation of information access and design resilience strategies that protect journalistic integrity. To lead the sessions and set the roadmap for these three days of innovation, we are proud to present the Keynote Speakers who will head the conversation at the industry’s epicenter.

Our 2026 Keynote Speakers

This year, the main stage will feature pioneering voices operating at the intersection of AI, investigative journalism, and civic technology.

Three Days of Radical Innovation

Media Party is not just a conference; it is a collaborative workspace. Over three intense days, attendees will take part in an ecosystem designed for action:

  • Keynotes and Lightning Talks: Dynamic presentations on success stories and constructive failures in the use of emerging technologies.
  • Hands-on Workshops: 90-minute sessions to develop methodological skills, acquire specific knowledge, or work on concrete projects.
  • Media Fair: A space where the most innovative projects showcase their tools live.
  • Hackathon and Challenges: Co-creation stages to develop prototypes that tackle real-world problems within the local and global information ecosystem.

Core Themes

Under the theme of strengthening information integrity, this year we focus on:

  1. News Influencers & Vertical Video: Editorial standards, ethical dilemmas, and the search for sustainable business models in the era of the individual journalist.
  2. Local News & Civic Technology: How to integrate AI tools into resource-constrained newsrooms to scale technical impact without sacrificing community trust and local information ecosystems.
  3. Internal Tools & AI Workflows: A space to standardize evaluation frameworks and share real-world insights on implementing AI systems within newsrooms.
  4. Audiences & Algorithmic Distribution: Strategies to understand AI-mediated content discovery and optimize reach across fragmented platforms and global markets.
