How do I enter Media Party?
Admission is free, but you must register via mediaparty.info. You will receive a QR code via Eventbrite, which you must use to check in at the entrance. You must present personal identification at the door. To avoid delays during registration, please use your full legal name when registering. You can register at any time during the event, though we recommend doing so as early as possible. Each day, right as the conference starts, we will raffle off T-shirts among those present at the venue.
Do I need to pre-register for Media Party workshops?
No pre-registration is required for workshops. They are in-person and capacity depends on room sizes.
Do you issue certificates of attendance?
Yes. To receive a certificate, your name must be properly registered on your account, and you must attend on the day you registered for. Certificates will be available provided we have verified your actual attendance. They are issued per day and will be processed at the venue entrance.
Should I bring my laptop?
If you want to participate in workshops and co-working spaces, you must bring your own laptop and charger. Neither #hhba, #MediaParty, nor Ciudad Cultural Konex are responsible for lost or stolen valuables. Therefore, we strongly advise you to NEVER LEAVE YOUR LAPTOP UNATTENDED during the event and do not lend it to anyone you don’t know. If you are only interested in attending talks—morning keynotes or afternoon lightning talks—and do not plan to stay and work, you don’t need to bring anything.
Will there be space to work?
Yes, there will be a co-working space as well as network cables available to plug in laptops. We are living in hybrid times, so you can make Konex your home office for the day.
Do you provide or lend laptops?
No. We also do not lend power adapters or chargers, though power outlets will be available to charge batteries, along with Wi-Fi so you can participate in workshops and stay active on social media. LAN cables will also be available as mentioned.
I am a member of the press/media and want to cover the event. Do I need media accreditation?
If you register through the Media Party website, that’s all you need to do. If you want to cover the event and conduct interviews on-site, the designated time is during the Media Fair on Thursday, October 5, between 12:30 PM and 1:00 PM in Room E at Ciudad Cultural Konex. Interrupting ongoing activities to conduct interviews will not be allowed. Instead of conducting interviews, come to learn!
Will there be a livestream?
No. Media Party guarantees audiovisual coverage of the event, but this year the production team decided to focus on strengthening in-person activities at the venue. The best thing you can do is attend! What happens at Media Party stays at Media Party.
I am a programmer, designer, entrepreneur, marketer, economist, etc. Why should I participate in a media event?
Media Party is not just a gathering for journalists. It is a meeting point for the convergence of media, digital technologies, and innovation. We welcome developers, DevOps, architects, analysts, data miners, designers, civil society activists, entrepreneurs, and specialists such as sociologists, political scientists, metaverse and Web3 experts, and more. You can participate in various activities:
Keynotes: Morning conferences during the first two days presented by members of the #hhba community, featuring interactive news teams, international experts, and leaders from various media innovation programs. Simultaneous English/Spanish translation is provided.
Workshops: Hands-on workshops held during the afternoon of both days. You will learn by working alongside software creators, media editors, designers, and entrepreneurs reinventing the concept of news. Formats, data, source relations, and more—everything is up for discussion so you can explore new directions. Note: They are conducted in the native language of the host. Many workshops are in English.
Media Fair: The Media Fair takes place only around noon on Day 1 (Thursday, October 5 from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM) and offers an inspiring showcase of over 40 media innovation projects from Argentina, Latin America, and around the world. It’s a prime opportunity to see who’s who at the event before tailoring your schedule for workshops and talks.
Lightning Talks: Short afternoon presentations on Thursday and Friday showcasing local and regional media innovation experiences. No simultaneous translation.
Hackathon: The hackathon takes place on Saturday as part of Media Party. Thanks to ICFJ, there will be $5,000 in prizes distributed among the winning project(s) working on AI, news, and democracy.
What is the hackathon dynamic?
In the days leading up to the event, anyone interested in participating can upload their ideas and projects to the hackdash at mediaparty.info (to be announced soon). After two days of Media Party talks and workshops, the event culminates in a collaborative work marathon. On Saturday, October 7, teams wanting to pitch their ideas must arrive at Konex by 10:00 AM. Each project will have three minutes to pitch. Ideas will be presented during the first hour, after which working teams will form. Pitching for selected projects starts at 6:00 PM, and an independent jury will announce the final winners before 8:00 PM.
Can the schedule change?
Everything is subject to change. The official schedule is available on mediaparty.org under the Agenda section. Last-minute talks and workshops may be added, spontaneous workshops formed, or co-working projects launched at any time.
Will there be simultaneous translation?
Yes, but only for activities taking place in Room A on Thursday and Friday during keynotes. Some workshops may be conducted entirely in English—a great excuse to practice, but if you don’t speak English, you can join another workshop conducted in Spanish.
