“Responding To Three Big Shifts In News Consumption”: Meet Dan Newman of News Ecosystem at Google

Dan Newman has a distinctive passion: the interaction between users and digital platforms. As a highly accomplished design leader and UX Manager for the News Ecosystem at Google, he recognizes that design has to rethink the way consumers relate themselves with data. In his keynote “Responding To Three Big Shifts In News Consumption”, he’ll invite Media Party Chicago to reflect on the new paradigm of digital interactions.

Dan has played a pivotal role in enhancing Google’s publisher- and journalist-facing interactions. His expertise lies in strategic initiatives for the broader news ecosystem, and he has been instrumental in the development of key projects such as Subscribe with Google, Google Publisher Center, and Google News Showcase.

Before joining Google, Dan held several design leadership positions, showcasing his versatility and commitment to driving innovation. He worked with the design team at NPR since 2014. In 2018, he became the Director of Product Design and led the design efforts for various platforms, including NPR One, a personalized listening app with a vast user base across iOS, Android, the web, voice platforms, wearables, and entertainment systems. Additionally, Dan contributed to the growth of NPR.org, which reaches millions of weekly active users.

As the UX Manager for News Ecosystem at Google, Dan Newman continues to make significant contributions to the evolving landscape of news consumption. His strategic vision, design leadership, and commitment to enhancing user experiences have positioned him as a prominent figure in the field.
